INMARSAT BROADCASTS ITS GLOBAL SUPPORT FOR JOURNALISTS
This is all the more pertinent given the current conflict in the Gulf, with journalists and production staff again risking their lives from the front line, to give the world an insight into Global events. Inmarsat's technology enables journalists from around the world to send back the ground breaking images that bring news to life, often risking their own lives in the process. They need reliable, global, easy to use, portable communications solutions to do their job and that's what Inmarsat prides itself on delivering as part of its Total Communications Network. Often such reporters arrive in areas with little or no terrestrial communications and have to report immediately - Inmarsat enables this. Inmarsat's most recent technical innovation, IP-based, A4-sized Regional BGAN, promises to expand the options open to journalists beyond the current ISDN connectivity provided by Global Area Network. This solution provides the news team on the ground with a reliable Internet access modem to send digital photography or footage. Producers can use it to communicate with the studio via email, access the corporate databases for scripts and other materials, or even check the wires to find out the latest on a story. Just another case of Inmarsat's continuing innovation to respond and predict the needs of the media community. Inmarsat is pleased to be involved with The Rory Peck Fund, which works tirelessly for the media around the world. Michael Butler
