THE RORY PECK AWARDS 2007
Sponsored by Sony

Thursday 15 November 2007 at The British Film Institute Southbank, Belvedere Road, London SE1, UK

The Rory Peck Awards is an international competition, the only showcase in the world to celebrate the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in TV news and current affairs.

We accept submissions from all freelancers who have had work broadcast between 1 August 2006 and 31 July 2007. We welcome self-funded freelance work, entries from local freelancers around the world also from regions where it is difficult to operate.

In all categories the Awards honour:

  • Quality of camera work
  • Initiative and enterprise in camerawork and concept
  • Journalistic ability and integrity

Judges take into account the circumstances and conditions under which the footage was shot.

This annual event is the main fundraiser for The Rory Peck Trust, the charity dedicated to promoting the work, safety and security of freelance newsgatherers. The Trust subsidises safety training for freelancers, and provides support to freelancers in need, and to the families of those killed, injured or suffering persecution as a result of their work.
